Josef Fares, the creative mind behind Hazelight Studios, recently shed light on the eagerly anticipated game, Split Fiction, in an interview with MinnMax. Fares reiterated the studio's firm stance against adopting live-service models and incorporating microtransactions, emphasizing their dedication to crafting rich gaming experiences. He also confirmed that Hazelight has no plans to go public or be acquired by a larger entity, stating, "We're not going public. No microtransactions. We focus solely on delivering great gaming experiences."
Fares provided insights into Split Fiction's narrative length, noting that the core story will take players approximately 12-14 hours to complete. This duration is in line with the studio's previous hit, It Takes Two. Including optional missions and extra content, the total playtime can extend to 16-17 hours, offering ample engagement for players.
While Hazelight is renowned for its cooperative gameplay titles, Fares hinted at the possibility of venturing into single-player games in the future. He also revealed that the development budget for Split Fiction is twice that of It Takes Two. Despite this significant investment, Hazelight has decided against releasing any post-launch DLC, ensuring that all features and content are available to players from the game's launch day.
Split Fiction is set to launch globally on March 6th, and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, promising another innovative and immersive experience from Hazelight Studios.
