Alan Wake 2 developers want to become “Europe's Naughty Dog”

Remedy Entertainment's ambition: to become the European Naughty Dog. Inspired by Naughty Dog's cinematic masterpieces, particularly the Uncharted series, Remedy aims to establish itself as a leading European studio in the same vein. Alan Wake 2 director Kyle Rowley, in a Behind The Voice podcast interview, revealed this aspiration, highlighting how this influence shaped both Quantum Break and Alan Wake 2.

The cinematic style of Alan Wake 2, lauded for its stunning visuals and compelling narrative, directly reflects this inspiration. The game's success has cemented Remedy's position as a major player in the European gaming landscape.

Remedy's vision extends beyond the horror genre. Naughty Dog's dominance in single-player cinematic experiences, exemplified by Uncharted and the critically acclaimed The Last of Us franchise (one of the most awarded in history), serves as a clear benchmark.

Alan Wake 2, even over a year post-launch, continues to receive updates. Recent enhancements include a new "Balanced" graphics option specifically optimized for the PS5 Pro, cleverly combining aspects of the Performance and Quality modes. These updates also address minor graphical tweaks for smoother framerates and improved image clarity, alongside bug fixes, particularly impacting the Lake House expansion.
