Wuthering Waves' elemental system has evolved significantly in Version 2.0. Initially, elements provided character buffs and enemy resistances, but now, with the introduction of Elemental Effects and new Echo sets, character interactions are more dynamic. This guide details the changes and how players can leverage them.
Elemental Status Effects and Debuffs:
While elements have always influenced combat, Version 2.0 introduces direct Elemental Effects, applied by some attacks. These effects, often dealing damage over time (DoT), impact characters differently. Dodging removes stacks of these effects.
Elemental Effect | Effect Description |
---|---|
Havoc Bane | Stacks periodically, up to 2. At 2 stacks, deals Havoc DMG and reapplies to nearby characters. |
Glacio Chafe | Reduces movement speed per stack, freezing at 10 stacks. Players can "Struggle" to shorten the frozen duration. |
Spectro Frazzle | Stacks reduce to deal Spectro DMG. More stacks = more damage over time. |
Fusion Burst | Stacks up to 10, exploding at max stacks for significant Fusion DMG. |
Aero Erosion | Deals Aero DMG periodically. Stacks don't deplete to deal damage; more stacks increase damage over time. |
Electro Flare | Reduces ATK based on stacks: 1-4 (-5%), 5-9 (-7% + Magnetized effect), 10 (-10%). |
Resonators, Echoes, and Echo Sets:
Currently, Elemental Effect utilization is limited. Only a few Resonators, Echoes, and Echo sets interact with these effects:
Resonators Applying Elemental Effects:
Post-Version 2.0 rework, only Spectro Rover can apply Elemental Effects. Its Resonance Skill's Resonating Spin variant applies Spectro Frazzle, and the Shimmer effect prevents stack decay, maximizing effect duration.
Echoes and Echo Sets:
Currently, only the Eternal Radiance Echo Set (2pc: +10% Spectro DMG; 5pc: increased Crit Rate and Spectro DMG Bonus with Spectro Frazzle stacks) and the Nightmare Echo (increased Spectro DMG against enemies with Spectro Frazzle) benefit from Elemental Effects, primarily for Spectro Rover.
The game may expand Elemental Effect utilization in future updates, but currently, it's a niche mechanic primarily benefiting Spectro Rover.
