PlayStation 5 Theme Update

By LaylaFeb 20,2025

Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PSOne, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes are leaving the PlayStation Store on January 31st, 2025. However, Sony has confirmed their return is planned for the coming months, bringing welcome relief to nostalgic PS5 owners.

In a recent tweet, Sony expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic reception of the themes, stating that they're working to reintroduce these designs.

Thank you for the fantastic response to the classic PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4 limited-time console themes, which will be leaving tomorrow. Due to the positive response on these 4 themes, we’re doing some work behind the scenes to bring these special designs back in the months ahead.

While this is positive news, Sony also announced that there are currently no plans to release additional themes beyond these four. This announcement has met with some fan disappointment, as themes were a feature in previous PlayStation generations.

While there aren’t plans to create additional themes in the future, we're excited to keep celebrating legacy PlayStation hardware with you all.

These nostalgic themes, released to commemorate PlayStation's 30th anniversary on December 3rd, 2024, allowed PS5 users to customize their console's interface with iconic imagery and sounds from past consoles. Each theme replicates the visual style (backgrounds, menus) and audio cues of its respective console generation.
