KEMCO's latest Android release, Novel Rogue, plunges players into a captivating pixel-art fantasy JRPG with a unique roguelite twist. This card deck-building adventure is brimming with magical books, strategic battles, and intriguing storylines.
You play as Wright, a young apprentice under the tutelage of Yuisil, the Witch of Portals, within the hallowed halls of the Ancient Library. Wright's journey unfolds as he dives into the pages of four enchanted books, each transporting him to a distinct and richly detailed world.
One book might find you aiding a princess knight in reclaiming her fallen kingdom, while another plunges you into the enigmatic mysteries of the underworld. Every choice you make ripples through these worlds, ensuring that no two playthroughs are ever alike.
Gameplay in Novel Rogue
At the heart of Novel Rogue lies a dynamic turn-based card battle system. The gameplay shifts subtly depending on the book you're exploring, with each of the four worlds offering its own unique deck-building mechanics. Defeat enemies, strategically choose from three new cards after each battle, and craft the ultimate deck to conquer the challenges ahead.
A clever "Change" command allows you to redistribute damage among your allies, adding a layer of tactical depth. The "Novel Power" mechanic lets you enhance your deck using ink, further customizing your strategy. For those seeking a greater challenge, the Deep Record mode significantly increases dungeon difficulty, rewarding skillful players with high-stakes battles.
As you progress, collect treasures to cultivate relationships with various characters. These bonds unlock a special ending, adding a rewarding element to repeated playthroughs. For those who appreciate visual customization, Witch Stones allow you to change character costumes, letting you express your personal style.
Novel Rogue is available now for free on the Google Play Store. A premium version is also available, offering 150 bonus Witch Stones and additional perks like an ad-free experience.
