Introducing Agadon the Hunter, a fresh adversary set to take the place of the Marauder in *DOOM: The Dark Ages*. Agadon isn't merely an upgraded version of the Marauder; he's an entirely new challenge. Drawing inspiration from multiple bosses, Agadon boasts the ability to dodge, evade, and even deflect the Doom Slayer's projectiles. This boss employs a diverse range of combo attacks, compelling players to utilize a sawtooth shield, reminiscent of the mechanics seen in *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*—a game that has notably influenced the developers. Facing Agadon will be the ultimate test of the skills players have honed throughout the game, akin to a final exam.
The developers have chosen to maintain the concept of a challenging boss similar to the Marauder, believing that players are eager for an elevated challenge. The previous issues with the Marauder stemmed not from the difficulty itself, but from how it was presented and explained. Many elements needed to defeat the Marauder were not introduced earlier in the campaign, leading to frustration among players due to the sudden shift in gameplay dynamics. To remedy this, the developers are focusing on a smoother introduction of mechanics and better preparation for players.
*DOOM: The Dark Ages* is slated for release on May 15, 2025, and will be available on current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series) and PC (Steam).
