Wolcen Studio has revealed Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat RPG blending the high-stakes thrill of extraction shooter mechanics with deep RPG combat. A closed alpha test begins January 25th for European players, followed by North American players on February 1st.
"We've combined the tension and rewarding risk of extraction shooters with the dynamic battles of combat RPGs," explains game director Andrei Cirkulete. Drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov, Project Pantheon offers a unique gameplay experience. The developers eagerly anticipate player feedback.
Players assume the role of a Death's Messenger, striving to restore order to a shattered world. They'll face challenging AI and player-versus-player combat across diverse maps. Successful evacuations preserve hard-earned trophies, while failure results in the loss of all loot.
The game features extensive customization options, including base building, equipment personalization, and diverse playstyles. The world's mythology draws inspiration from various cultures, with player trading forming the core of the in-game economy.
Initially, players will explore "Destiny's Edge," a region inspired by Scandinavian legends. Despite being in early alpha, Wolcen Studio plans to actively engage the community to shape Project Pantheon's development.
