Zelda and Link: A Dual Protagonist Adventure
The ESRB listing confirms both Zelda and Link are playable characters. Zelda's quest involves sealing rifts across Hyrule and rescuing Link. Gameplay mechanics differ: Link wields sword and arrow, while Zelda utilizes a magic wand to summon various creatures for combat (wind-up knights, pig soldiers, slime). Enemies meet varied ends—some combust, others dissolve into mist.
This marks a pivotal moment for the Zelda franchise, placing Princess Zelda front and center as the protagonist for the first time. The game's popularity is undeniable, having quickly topped wishlists after its summer showcase reveal.
