Ubisoft Responds to Assassin's Creed Shadows Leak

By BellaMar 17,2025

On February 24th, news broke of an Assassin's Creed Shadows leak, with numerous individuals streaming the game online a month before its official March 20th release. Over the weekend, deleted social media posts and streams on platforms like Twitch revealed physical copies being sold prematurely.

Ubisoft acknowledged the leak on the Assassin's Creed subreddit, urging players to avoid spoiling the experience for others. They emphasized that the leaked footage doesn't reflect the final game quality, as the team is still working on pre-launch patches. The company thanked those already working to prevent spoilers and asked players to "Stay in the shadows, avoid the spoilers," promising official updates in the coming weeks.

This leak adds to Ubisoft's recent challenges. The developer previously apologized for unauthorized use of a historical recreation group's flag and for inaccuracies in the game's depiction of Japan. Assassin's Creed Shadows, initially slated for November, saw its release date pushed back twice, first to February 14th, and then to March 20th. With lackluster sales of recent titles and investor backlash, Ubisoft desperately needs this release to perform well.
