Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of last year's Helldivers 2, is currently developing a new "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan feedback.
Community suggestions ranged widely, including a remake of the classic arcade shooter Smash TV and various Star Fox-inspired concepts. Pilestedt confirmed that a Smash TV remake has been internally discussed, and also hinted at a Star Fox-esque title within the "rail game" genre.
While specifics remain under wraps, Arrowhead's active community engagement is evident. The remarkable success of Helldivers 2, a standout title of 2024, sets a high standard for their upcoming project.
A recent update for Helldivers 2, which notably included the long-awaited Illuminate enemy faction, the 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps, has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. The surprise release of the "Omens of Tyranny" update at the 2024 Game Awards appears to have been well-received.
This update has clearly delighted Helldivers 2 players. Coupled with rumors of a Killzone crossover, the game looks poised for continued success in 2025.
