Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has announced a record-breaking year, with the game generating $43 million in royalties. The company's 2024 financial report shows a 30.4% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $151.4 million, a significant portion of which is attributable to Stellar Blade's success. Further growth is anticipated, with Shift Up projecting that PC sales will surpass those of the PlayStation 5 version, particularly in Asian markets.
While a Stellar Blade sequel remains under consideration, Shift Up's immediate focus is on Project Witches, a new title slated for reveal in the first half of 2025. Project Witches was initially unveiled in 2024, preceding significant calls for a Stellar Blade sequel.
Stellar Blade, a fast-paced action RPG where players assume the role of Eve in a battle to reclaim Earth from unknown invaders, has already achieved impressive sales figures, exceeding one million copies sold. While receiving a 7/10 rating from IGN, praising its core action gameplay, the review noted that underdeveloped characters, a weak narrative, and frustrating RPG mechanics hindered its overall potential. The review stated: "Stellar Blade excels in crucial aspects of action game design, yet suffers from dull characters, a lackluster storyline, and several frustrating RPG mechanics that prevent it from reaching the top tier of the genre."
