Starfield Creation Hints at PS5 Release with PlayStation Logo Appearance

By MichaelApr 23,2025

Speculation about Starfield being confirmed for release on the PlayStation 5 has intensified recently after fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website. The logo was briefly attached to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, sparking discussions among fans about the possibility of the game, which has been exclusive to PC and Xbox, coming to PS5.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

The discovery has led to speculation about a significant content update or even a new expansion coinciding with a potential PS5 release. Following the underwhelming reception of the Shattered Space expansion, Bethesda has remained relatively quiet about Starfield. However, Microsoft, Bethesda's parent company, is expected to host a summer showcase, which could be the perfect platform to unveil more details about Starfield.

Bethesda has teased "exciting things" planned for Starfield this year, amidst growing frustration from the player base over a lack of communication and updates. In June 2024, the studio reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield and confirmed plans for at least one more story expansion post-Shattered Space. In an interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard expressed the studio's ambition to release an annual story expansion for Starfield "hopefully for a very long time."

Starfield launched in September 2023, marking Bethesda's first new intellectual property in years and its first major single-player game since Microsoft's acquisition of parent company ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN’s review of Starfield scored it a 7/10, noting, "Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist."

In January, Microsoft’s gaming chief, Phil Spencer, hinted at the possibility of Starfield coming to PS5, following reports in March 2024 that both Starfield and MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for the platform. Indiana Jones was later confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release window, shortly after its launch on PC and Xbox Series X and S. While Starfield has yet to be officially announced for PS5, Spencer’s comments suggest it's a strong possibility.

Several Xbox titles are already available on PS5, including Sea of Thieves by Rare, Hi-Fi Rush by Tango Gameworks, and Grounded and Pentiment by Obsidian. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation consoles and other platforms and is set to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Forza Horizon 5 by Playground is also slated for a PS5 release soon. There are even whispers that Halo might finally make its way to PlayStation after years of Xbox exclusivity.

Spencer has indicated that Xbox's multiplatform strategy is partly aimed at boosting Microsoft’s gaming revenue, especially following the hefty $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

“We run a business,” Spencer stated in August last year. “It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do.

“So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”

Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450-person team, is currently juggling multiple projects, including Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile games, and external development partnerships.
