Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Developer Insists 'Everything We Have Talked About Is Still in Development'

By AlexanderMar 17,2025

Saber Interactive assures fans that all previously announced games remain in development, despite the prolonged silence surrounding high-profile projects like the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. Following the announcement of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3, Saber's Chief Creative Officer, Tim Willits, tweeted a reassuring message to quell fan concerns. Willits stated, "Saber Interactive is one of the largest independent developers in the world. We are working on numerous games across many different genres. Everything that we have talked about is still in development. We will share information on upcoming games when we have something cool to share.”

The most prominent game impacted by this statement is the elusive KOTOR remake. Announced in 2021, the project has faced numerous setbacks, including changes in development teams and apparent pauses in production. Despite these challenges, Saber Interactive CEO Matthew Karch confirmed in April 2024 that the company retained the KOTOR project following its separation from Embracer Group, and that development continued actively. He stated, "It's clear and it's obvious that we're working on this... What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we're dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations." Willits' recent statement further reinforces this commitment, though tangible updates remain absent.

Beyond KOTOR, Saber Interactive has several other projects underway, including titles slated for release in 2025: John Carpenter's Toxic Commando and Jurassic Park Survival, both currently lacking specific release dates. A new Turok game and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender title are also in development. The recently announced Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 adds to this already extensive roster.
