Star Wars: Hunters, which has announced its shutdown even before completing a year, is set to celebrate its one-year anniversary before the final curtain falls. But is it worth celebrating a dying game’s anniversary? That's a question many fans are pondering as they reflect on the game's brief lifespan.
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers of Star Wars: Hunters are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's journey just nine months after its launch. Players have until April 15th to wrap up Season 5, as Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, will release its final content update on that date. This update introduces Tuya, a new Support Hunter, available for free. In-game purchases will be disabled on April 15th as well.Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players with unspent Crystals should use them before the shutdown, as no refunds will be issued.
It Isn’t Shocking
While the news is disappointing, it's not entirely surprising. Star Wars: Hunters faced several challenges from the start. Initially announced in 2020, the game experienced multiple delays and beta testing was limited to the SEA and ANZAC regions. The lack of major console support and a tepid reception contributed to its eventual shutdown.In terms of design, the game missed an opportunity to capitalize on the Star Wars universe's iconic characters, opting instead for generic original characters. This choice might have alienated fans hoping to see familiar faces from the galaxy.
