SoMoGa Inc. has unleashed a revitalized version of Vay on Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG returns with enhanced graphics, a modernized user interface, and controller compatibility.
Originally launched in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized for the US by Working Designs), Vay received a 2008 iOS re-release courtesy of SoMoGa. This latest iteration builds upon that legacy.
What's New in the Revamped Vay?
The updated Vay features over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is the adjustable difficulty levels, catering to various player preferences.
Convenience is enhanced with an auto-save function and Bluetooth controller support. Players can acquire new equipment and items, learn new spells as characters level up, and even utilize an AI system for autonomous character combat.
The Story:
Set in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennium-long interstellar war, the narrative centers on a colossal, malfunctioning machine that crashed into the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay. Programmed for destruction, this machine ravaged the land.
Players assume the role of a hero whose wedding day is disrupted by an attack, resulting in his wife's abduction. The ensuing quest to rescue her and potentially save the world unfolds across the ravaged landscape, pitting the protagonist against the war machines.
Vay's compelling storyline blends nostalgia with fresh elements, staying true to JRPG conventions with experience and gold gained through random encounters. The game includes nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes with English and Japanese audio options.
