God of War character artist and game developer Glauco Longhi has suggested that the studio behind the acclaimed series, Santa Monica Studio, is working on a new game IP. This comes from the LinkedIn profile of Longhi, who rejoined the Sony-owned studio earlier this year to oversee character development on an "unannounced project."

Longhi’s career with Santa Monica Studio God of War (2018) and eventually served as lead character artist on God of War Ragnarok. Longhi mentioned that the studio presented him with the opportunity to return and supervise the project's "character development pipeline."

Santa Monica Studio's creative director, Cory Barlog, who directed the 2018 reboot of God of War, previously said that the studio was "spread out on a lot of different things," and interestingly, Longhi's LinkedIn profile also revealed that the studio is actively recruiting new staff. In particular, the studio has been looking for a character artist and tools programmer for the past few months, suggesting that the team is expanding as work progresses.

There have been speculations about Santa Monica Studio working on a new sci-fi IP, potentially led by Stig Asmussen, the creative director of God of War 2. However, this has neither been confirmed nor officially announced by the developers. Earlier this year, Sony was reported to have trademarked "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet," but no additional details have been shared by the company since then. Many years ago, the studio was previously linked to a mysterious project for the PS4, which was rumored to delve into the sci-fi genre, but ultimately believed to be canceled.
