Respawn Abandons Secret Titanfall Multiplayer Project

A former employee of the studio revealed on LinkedIn that a game in development for several years was abruptly halted this week. No specific reasons were given for the sudden stop in production. Last year, journalist Jeff Grubb reported that the project was not a mainline entry in the series, specifically not Titanfall 3. Respawn Entertainment had assembled a dedicated "experimental team" to work on this game, bringing in experts skilled in crafting multiplayer shooters.

This isn't the first time Respawn has had to cancel a project; they previously shut down an arcade shooter codenamed Titanfall Legends last year. The Titanfall series, celebrated for its exhilarating mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in battles either as agile pilots or commanding formidable Titans. Since the debut of the first game in 2014, the franchise has garnered a dedicated following due to its distinctive gameplay, which seamlessly integrates parkour with intense team-based combat.

Currently, Respawn's focus has shifted to other projects, including the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series and a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
