PSA: Days Gone Remastered $10 PS5 Upgrade Not Available for Game Redemptions via PS Plus

By LiamFeb 23,2025

Sony's recent State of Play showcased Days Gone Remastered, but its $10 upgrade policy has sparked controversy among PlayStation Plus subscribers. The $10 upgrade to the PS5 remaster is exclusively available to those who purchased the PlayStation 4 disc or digital version of Days Gone. This excludes players who acquired the game through PS Plus, either via the now-defunct PS Plus Collection or the April 2021 Essential monthly offering.

Consequently, PS Plus subscribers must pay the full $49.99 for the PS5 remaster. This decision has prompted widespread online complaints, with many expressing their willingness to pay the $10 upgrade but not the full price. Several Reddit users voiced their disappointment, highlighting the potential lost revenue from this restriction. One user pointed out that Sony could have generated significant additional revenue even from those who might only play for a short time. Others criticized Sony's decision as "stingy" and short-sighted, given that the game was previously offered for free. Some argue the game didn't even require a remaster.

While some PS Plus subscribers understand Sony's likely cost-benefit analysis behind this decision, the company is facing criticism for its perceived lack of generosity. The Days Gone Remastered announcement wasn't the only highlight of the February 2025 State of Play; IGN's State of Play roundup provides a comprehensive overview of all announcements.
