Out of the most eagerly awaited game releases I covered last year, one that stood out to me was the upcoming Pirates Outlaws 2: Heritage. The original Pirates Outlaws was a stylish, swashbuckling roguelike deckbuilder that hit the scene when the genre was still in its early days. Now, its sequel is set to make waves with a Q3 release this year!
This "seaquel" takes you back to the vibrant world of New Elysia, where you'll embark on another thrilling journey across the high seas. Start your adventure by selecting a character, choosing a class ability, and crafting your starting deck. The freedom to shape your voyage is in your hands!
In Pirates Outlaws 2, you'll have the option to choose from multiple characters, each offering seven distinct class options. Customize your deck to your heart's content and recruit an animal companion to add even more strategic depth to your battles. With enhanced turn-based combat and a new card evolution tree, you'll have a vast arsenal at your fingertips to conquer the seas!
**Run out the guns** - Pirates Outlaws 2 promises to be a significantly expanded sequel, allowing you to navigate back and forth across the map with countless permutations and combinations of cards and characters. For those on PC, an upcoming Steam demo will offer the first chance to get your hands on this exciting sequel!
My only concern stems from the animations shown in the reveal trailer, which seem a bit static. While fully animating these illustrations is undoubtedly challenging, I'm hopeful that the final release will feature more dynamic effects when it launches on mobile later this year.
