Monster Hunter Wilds: Mastering Monster Captures

Slaying monsters is thrilling, but sometimes you need their parts, which means capturing them. Here's how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

The process is straightforward. Weaken the monster, trap it, then use a tranquilizer to capture it. Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weak, indicated by a skull icon above the monster on your minimap, and visible signs like limping or drooling.

Once weak, set a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap. Lure the monster onto it. Once trapped, quickly throw one or two Tranq Bombs. Alternatively, craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades depending on your weapon. Capturing the monster ends the quest, returning you to Base Camp.

How to Get Traps and Tranq Items

While your Palico might occasionally set traps, it's best to bring your own. Pitfall Traps require a Trap Tool and a Net (Spiderwebs or Ivy). Shock Traps need a Trap Tool and a Thunderbug Capacitor.

Craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. Combine these with Throwing Knives (for Tranq Blades) or Normal Ammo (for Tranq Ammo).

That's how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds. Check out The Escapist for more game tips and information.
