The release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was officially confirmed during Sony's State of Play 2025 presentation, alongside a new trailer. The August 28, 2025 release date, which leaked last week via the PlayStation Store along with an early trailer release, was officially validated.
An exciting Ape Escape collaboration was also teased, with the intriguing addition of a cryptic "And More," hinting at further crossovers planned for the game. This first crossover appears to reference the original Metal Gear Solid 3, which famously featured a monkey minigame where Snake used stun grenades and his "Monkey Shaker" gun to subdue the primates.
While boasting a new first-person perspective, *Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater* appears to be a remarkably faithful recreation of its predecessor. As IGN noted in its preview, "Metal Gear Solid Delta seems more like a very shiny HD remaster than the elegant remake it could have been. It’s an admittedly beautiful nostalgia trip, but almost faithful to a fault."For more on the exciting announcements from State of Play 2025 and what’s coming to PlayStation 5, be sure to check out IGN's comprehensive roundup.
