Mastering Demon’s Hand: A Guide to Playing the Card Game in League of Legends

By SarahApr 09,2025

*League of Legends* has launched an exciting new minigame within its client, available until the end of April. If you're familiar with *Balatro*, you'll find the gameplay of Demon’s Hand in *League of Legends* quite intuitive.

League of Legends Demon’s Hand Set-Up and Getting Started

To dive into Demon’s Hand, ensure your *League* client is updated to the latest version. Once updated, click the Play button, navigate to the game type menu, and select Demon’s Hand. This will initiate the game's story mode, leading you directly into your first round of the card game.

Your hand is represented by the bottom row of cards on the screen. In the bottom right corner, you'll find your health, coins, and critical hit chance. Above this, there's a Sigil box where you can have up to six active Sigils at once, though you start with none. Remember, health isn’t restored after each battle; instead, visit tent locations on the map to restore a percentage of your health.

The enemy card is displayed at the top of the screen, with its health shown in the bottom right and its damage in the bottom left. To the left of the enemy card is an attack coin indicating how many hands you can play before the enemy strikes. On the left edge of the screen, a book lists all possible hands you can play, along with their base damage in a standard round.

To inflict damage, you'll need to play poker hands, which are given unique names in Demon’s Hand but follow the same principles. The highest hand you can aim for is The Demon’s Hand, equivalent to a royal flush. Here's a breakdown of the hands you can play along with their corresponding poker terms:

  • Solo = High Card (10 Base Damage)
  • Dyad = Pair (20 Base Damage)
  • Dyad Set = Two Pair (40 Base Damage)
  • Triad = Three of a Kind (80 Base Damage)
  • Tetrad = Four of a Kind (100 Base Damage)
  • March = Straight (125 Base Damage)
  • Horde = Flush (175 Base Damage)
  • Grand Warhost = Full House (400 Base Damage)
  • Marching Horde = Straight Flush (600 Base Damage)
  • The Demon’s Hand = Royal Flush (2000 Base Damage)

In addition to the base damage, the numerical value of each card adds to the total damage dealt. However, if the enemy has a special ability that nullifies a specific suit, cards of that suit will be crossed out, and their numerical value won't contribute to the base damage.

Spice Up Your Attacks with Sigils

Sigils add another layer of strategy to your gameplay. You can purchase them during store phases, marked by coins on the map, which you earn by defeating enemies. Each Sigil offers a unique ability, visible when you hover over them in the store or during gameplay. Some Sigils enhance specific hands, like boosting the damage of Dyads, while others might grant you more turns before the enemy attacks or reduce the damage you receive.

That sums up how to play the Demon’s Hand card game in *League of Legends*. If this minigame isn't your cup of tea, don't miss out on the upcoming April Fools skins to add some fun to your Summoner’s Rift experience.
