Mario vs. Sonic: Unofficial cinematic crossover trailer unveiled

A dream matchup for many: Sonic and Mario facing off on the silver screen. Fans have long championed a Sega and Nintendo collaboration, and KH Studio has answered the call with a concept trailer showcasing a potential crossover movie. The vibrant Mushroom Kingdom meets Sonic's breakneck speed in a dynamic preview of what such a film could offer.

Inspired by the phenomenal success of the Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog movie adaptations – which collectively raked in over $2 billion worldwide – this concept trailer ignites the imagination.

While a true collaboration between Nintendo and Sega's mascots remains unlikely given their historical competition, the idea clearly resonates deeply with fans.

In the meantime, audiences can anticipate sequels to both beloved franchises: Super Mario Bros. at the Movies 2 slated for 2026 and Sonic 4 at the Movies in 2027.

Separately, a December announcement revealed a partnership between McDonald's, Sega, and Paramount. Following the release of Sonic toys in 2022, speculation mounted regarding a collaboration for the third film. This culminated in McDonald's unveiling a new Sonic-themed Happy Meal in Colombia, featuring twelve unique hedgehog toys. Despite initial Colombian exclusivity, McDonald's later confirmed a US release. Each Happy Meal includes a special Sonic the Hedgehog 3 toy, alongside a side, drink, and a choice of McNuggets or a hamburger.
