Responding to player feedback, League of Legends is reinstating Hextech Chests. This article details the upcoming update and other changes based on community input.
League of Legends Reverses Course on Unpopular Decisions
The Return of Hextech Chests
Following player feedback, League of Legends (LoL) is bringing back Hextech Chests. A developer update, published February 27, 2025, on Riot Games' website and YouTube channel, outlines upcoming changes.
Riot Games acknowledged that recent updates weren't well-received, stating, "We've listened to your feedback, and it's clear we need adjustments in several areas." The return of Hextech Chests is a direct response to this feedback. LoL explained, "For many, Hextech Chests weren't just about rewards; they were a key part of the rewarding League experience. We underestimated their importance, leading to poorly received changes."
Starting with patch 25.05, players can earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. The free pass grants 8 chests, while the remaining 2 are earned through the Honor system.
Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed, Further Fan-Driven Adjustments
Riot Games announced a delay for the Exalted Mordekaiser skin, aiming for a more faithful representation of its design. The entire Exalted skin line will be delayed, meaning fewer skins than initially planned this year.
Responding to further community feedback, LoL will replace a non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about Mythic Essence scarcity in the paid pass and the excessive number of champions per seasonal theme.
To improve champion accessibility, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50% in patch 25.05.
Clash, previously slated for less frequent events, will return to a monthly schedule. March will feature ARURF Clash, followed by a standard SR Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return
Popular features, Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium, are making a comeback. Your Shop is scheduled for 25.06, and the Emporium for 25.07.
Riot Games emphasized their ongoing commitment to player feedback, stating, "Improving League is an iterative process. Today's updates are a significant step, and we'll continue monitoring player response, making adjustments as needed." This demonstrates Riot Games' dedication to creating a game that meets player expectations. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. Visit our League of Legends page for the latest game news.
