Take-Two Interactive Reasserts Grand Theft Auto 6 Fall 2025 Release
Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar Games, has reaffirmed its commitment to a Fall 2025 release window for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This confirmation came during their third-quarter financial results report (ending December 31, 2024). While acknowledging the inherent risk of delays, CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the targeted release timeframe.
Zelnick, in an interview with IGN, stated that while slippage is always a possibility, Take-Two feels positive about the Fall 2025 launch. He emphasized Rockstar's dedication to achieving perfection, a sentiment echoed by the company's cautious optimism. The anticipation surrounding GTA 6 is immense, both internally and externally, and the company is keenly aware of the competitive landscape.
The GTA 6 release date remains a significant topic in the gaming industry, influencing the release strategies of competitors. EA's CEO, Andrew Wilson, recently indicated a willingness to delay the next Battlefield installment, hinting at the potential impact of GTA 6's release timing.
The lack of a second trailer for GTA 6, over a year after the first, continues to fuel speculation among fans. Various analyses and opinions are circulating, including predictions regarding potential delays and platform availability (PC release and PS5 Pro performance).
Beyond GTA 6, Take-Two highlighted the continued success of Grand Theft Auto 5, which has now sold-in over 210 million units globally. GTA Online also experienced a strong quarter, boosted by the Agents of Sabotage update, while GTA+ subscriptions saw a 10% year-over-year increase. Red Dead Redemption 2 also continues to perform well, boasting record concurrent players on Steam.
Take-Two's 2025 release slate is packed, including Civilization 7, PGA Tour 2K25, WWE 2K25, Mafia: The Old Country, and Borderlands 4, alongside the highly anticipated GTA 6. The company expressed strong confidence in the commercial success of its upcoming titles and projected record-breaking net bookings for fiscal years 2026 and 2027.
