God of War Ragnarok Marks 20th Anniversary with Dark Odyssey Cosmetic Update Next Week

Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have announced the exciting Dark Odyssey collection, a new update for God of War Ragnarök that will be available to players next week. This update introduces a range of in-game equipment themed around one of the franchise's most iconic outfits, available for free to all God of War Ragnarök owners on PlayStation 5 and PC starting March 20.

In a detailed PlayStation.Blog post, Sony shared insights into its plans for celebrating the 20th anniversary of God of War. The Dark Odyssey collection is the centerpiece of these celebrations, featuring a sleek black-and-gold aesthetic that promises to enhance the visual appeal of Kratos and his companions as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology. Both Atreus and Freya will receive their own unique cosmetic sets, alongside various shields and weapons that players can customize.

The highlight of the Dark Odyssey update is undoubtedly the new armor set and appearance for Kratos, inspired by a legendary skin from God of War 2 that was previously exclusive to those who completed the game on God Mode difficulty. Players can unlock this coveted set from any Lost Items chest in the base game or instantly in the roguelike Valhalla mode once the update is live. Additionally, the update will allow players to customize the appearance of Kratos’ weapons without affecting their abilities, adding a new layer of personalization to the gameplay experience.
