FFXIV Updates Raid Reward System for Smoother Gameplay

Responding to player feedback, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.16 will introduce a Clouddark Demimateria exchange system. This update, arriving January 21st, 2025, addresses concerns regarding the acquisition of high-demand items from the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid.

The core change allows players to exchange their surplus Clouddark Demimateria 1 for Clouddark Demimateria 2. While the exact exchange rate remains unannounced, this adjustment directly benefits players seeking the "A Half Times Two" hairstyle and the "Dais of Darkness" mount, both of which require a significant amount of Clouddark Demimateria 2. The availability of these items on the Market Board will also be impacted.

This alteration follows the December 24th introduction of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, a challenging encounter rewarding players with both types of Demimateria. The initial distribution model, however, proved problematic, prompting Square Enix to implement this exchange.

Further adjustments to the reward structure are possible, contingent on ongoing player feedback. This proactive approach suggests Square Enix is committed to refining the raid experience based on community input. While Patch 7.16 primarily focuses on the Demimateria exchange and the Dawntrail Role Quest conclusion, significant job balance updates are anticipated in Patch 7.2. The impact of player feedback on future raid content remains to be seen.
