New Evidence of Rumored Elder Scrolls 4 Remake Surfaces

An Oblivion Remake on the Horizon? New Clues Emerge

Rumors of an Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake have intensified, fueled by a recent LinkedIn profile update. A Technical Art Director at Virtuos, a studio reportedly involved, lists an "unannounced Unreal Engine 5 remake for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S" among their projects. While the game isn't explicitly named, the context strongly suggests it's Oblivion, especially given the use of Unreal Engine 5, hinting at a full-fledged remake rather than a simple remaster.

This news follows previous leaks and speculation, including a 2023 prediction of a 2024 or 2025 release. Xbox insider Jez Corden further fueled the anticipation in late December 2024, suggesting a reveal during a potential January 2025 Xbox Developer Direct. While unconfirmed, the timing aligns with previous Developer Directs.

The anticipation for Oblivion's potential remake is understandable. The 2006 title remains a beloved classic, praised for its immersive world and compelling gameplay. The community-driven Skyblivion mod, aiming to recreate Oblivion within Skyrim's engine, also anticipates a 2025 release, further highlighting the enduring appeal of this Elder Scrolls installment.

Meanwhile, the future of the Elder Scrolls franchise remains shrouded in mystery. The Elder Scrolls VI, announced in 2018, still lacks a release window. Bethesda has indicated it will follow Starfield, and director Todd Howard's comments suggest a release timeframe potentially years away. However, many fans are hoping for a new trailer before the end of 2025. The possibility of an Oblivion remake reveal could add even more excitement to the year ahead for Elder Scrolls enthusiasts.
