Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is branching out with a new turn-based strategy game: Earth vs. Mars. This smaller-scale title, launching this summer on PC via Steam, puts players in a fight for Earth's survival against a Martian invasion.
The core gameplay revolves around the Splice-O-Tron, a device used to create bizarre and powerful human-animal hybrids to combat the alien threat. Imagine commanding Squirrel-Cows and Human-Rhinos against advanced Martian weaponry! The game's mechanics draw inspiration from the classic Nintendo DS title, Advance Wars.
Relic's narrative paints a picture of a clandestine Martian presence on Earth, culminating in a full-scale invasion. Players lead Earth's resistance, facing off against Martian saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien soldiers.

Earth vs. Mars offers a substantial single-player campaign with 30+ missions, online multiplayer (playable as either Earth or Mars), a VS mode for AI challenges, and a map editor.
Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell explains this new direction: "We're thrilled to put a Relic spin on the Advance Wars formula, blending our signature style with elements from our earlier games. This smaller-scale project reflects our new strategy: Alongside our traditional RTS titles, we'll be developing smaller, indie-style games to explore new genres, experiment creatively, and release games more frequently."
