The highly anticipated sequel, set against the backdrop of Hawaii, will feature a free New Game Plus mode added via a post-launch patch.
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, while critically acclaimed and nominated for several Game Awards, faced criticism for restricting New Game Plus access to its most expensive editions. RGG Studio, the developer, didn't reverse this decision for Infinite Wealth, but has learned from the experience.
This positive change was revealed during the recent Like a Dragon Direct presentation, a 13-minute showcase highlighting the game's naval combat, crew management, and other features. While the exact release date for the New Game Plus patch wasn't specified, the confirmation that it will be free is a significant win for players.
The practice of locking core gameplay elements, such as game modes, behind expensive editions is a contentious issue.
