Dr. Disrespect's Midnight Society Shuts Down, Cancels Deadrop
Midnight Society, the game studio co-founded by streamer Guy "Dr. Disrespect" Beahm, has announced its closure and the cancellation of its upcoming FPS game, Deadrop.
In an X post, the studio stated that it would be closing its doors after three years, impacting a team of over 55 developers. The announcement included a plea for employment opportunities for its now-displaced staff.
Midnight Society was formed by Beahm alongside industry veterans Robert Bowling (Call of Duty) and Quinn Delhoy (Halo). Their ambitious free-to-play FPS, Deadrop, aimed to leverage the team's collective experience. While targeting a 2024 release, the game ultimately failed to meet its launch window.

Following Dr. Disrespect's departure from the studio in 2024 due to controversy surrounding inappropriate messages exchanged with a minor via Twitch Whispers, Midnight Society continued Deadrop's development until its recent termination.
Deadrop was envisioned within a unique, 80s-inspired fictional universe. Promotional materials depicted characters sporting Daft Punk-esque helmets and wielding a combination of firearms and melee weapons. The gameplay was planned as a PvPvE extraction shooter.
The closure of Midnight Society adds to the growing list of studios facing hardship within the current challenging games industry climate. This wave of closures and layoffs has already impacted major players such as Ubisoft, BioWare, and Phoenix Labs, among many others.
