Doom 2099 is a 4-cost, 2-power card with a unique ability: "After each turn, add a DoomBot 2099 to a random location if you played (exactly) 1 card."

DoomBot 2099 (also 4-cost, 2-power) has the ability: "Ongoing: Your other DoomBots and Doom have +1 Power." Crucially, this buff applies to both DoomBot 2099s and regular Doctor Doom cards.

The strategy centers around playing exactly one card per turn after summoning Doom 2099. Early placement maximizes DoomBot 2099 deployment, potentially yielding significant power boosts. Combining Doom 2099 with Doctor Doom on the final turn further amplifies this effect. Optimally played, Doom 2099 can function as a 17-power card at 4 cost, with even greater potential through early play or game extension strategies like Magik.

However, Doom 2099's effectiveness is tempered by two key weaknesses: the random placement of DoomBot 2099s, which can hinder strategic location control, and vulnerability to Enchantress, which negates the DoomBot 2099 power boost.

Top-Tier Doom 2099 Decks for Marvel Snap

Doom 2099's one-card-per-turn requirement synergizes well with Spectrum Ongoing decks, bringing them back into the meta. Here are two examples:

Deck 1: Spectrum-focused

Ant-Man, Goose, Psylocke, Captain America, Cosmo, Electro, Doom 2099, Wong, Klaw, Doctor Doom, Spectrum, Onslaught. (Copyable from Untapped)

This budget-friendly deck (only Doom 2099 is a Series 5 card) offers multiple win conditions. Early Doom 2099 placement via Psylocke or a turn 3 Electro sets up powerful board states. Psylocke enables potent Wong/Klaw/Doctor Doom combinations, while Electro facilitates massive power distribution with Onslaught, DoomBot 2099s, and Spectrum. Cosmo counters Enchantress, protecting key cards. If early Doom 2099 placement fails, the deck adapts to alternative strategies using Doctor Doom or Spectrum buffs.

Deck 2: Patriot-style

Ant-Man, Zabu, Dazzler, Mister Sinister, Patriot, Brood, Doom 2099, Super Skrull, Iron Lad, Blue Marvel, Doctor Doom, Spectrum. (Copyable from Untapped)

Another inexpensive deck (only Doom 2099 is Series 5), this build utilizes a Patriot strategy. Early game focuses on cards like Mister Sinister and Brood, transitioning to Doom 2099, Blue Marvel, and Doctor Doom or Spectrum. Zabu discounts 4-cost cards for early game flexibility. Strategic flexibility allows skipping DoomBot 2099 spawns to play stronger cards like Patriot and Iron Lad on the final turn. Super Skrull counters opposing Doom 2099 decks, a common tactic in the early meta. However, this deck remains vulnerable to Enchantress.

Is Doom 2099 Worth the Investment?

While Daken and Miek (released alongside Doom 2099 in Spotlight Caches) are relatively weak, Doom 2099 is a worthwhile acquisition. His power and deck-building flexibility guarantee meta relevance. Using Collector's Tokens is recommended, but don't hesitate to acquire him this month; he's poised to become a legendary card in Marvel Snap, barring nerfs.
