Cookie Run: Kingdom Delays Version 5.6 Update, Here's The Good, The Bad And The Ugly!

Cookie Run: Kingdom's Version 5.6 update, "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," is a mixed bag of new content. While it introduces exciting additions, a controversial new rarity has sparked significant backlash.

The Good:

Version 5.6 brings a wave of fresh content, including two new cookies:

  • Dragon Lord Dark Cacao Cookie: An Ancient+ (a new rarity level) Charge-type frontline cookie with a powerful Awakened King skill that inflicts significant damage and debuffs enemies. A special Nether-Gacha increases the odds of obtaining him, guaranteeing him every 250 pulls.

  • Peach Blossom Cookie: A new Epic Support-type cookie who heals allies and provides beneficial buffs with her Heavenly Fruit skill.

The update also features a new World Exploration episode continuing Dark Cacao Cookie's saga, "Dark Resolution's Glorious Return," featuring unique Yin and Yang battle stages.

The Bad and the Ugly:

The introduction of the Ancient+ rarity, with a maximum 6-star promotion level, has caused considerable controversy. This new rarity, the eleventh in the game, is viewed negatively by many players, particularly newer players, as it adds another layer of difficulty in obtaining top-tier cookies. Instead of enhancing existing cookies, the addition of a higher rarity is seen as a cynical monetization tactic.

This negative reception led to a significant backlash from the Korean community and whale guilds, who threatened a boycott. In response, the developers have postponed the update (originally scheduled for June 20th) to reconsider the changes. Keep an eye out for further announcements.
