Skate Playtest Now Available on Consoles!
Exciting news for console gamers! The highly anticipated skateboarding game, skate., is now available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. This marks a significant step for the franchise, following PC-only playtests since mid-2022. After a 15-year hiatus since the last Skate game, console players can finally experience the next generation of skateboarding simulation.
skate.'s development has been a long-awaited journey. Following the release of Skate 3 in 2010, the franchise went dormant. However, persistent fan support, fueled by the #Skate4 hashtag, ultimately led to the creation of a dedicated development team and the announcement of skate. Initially slated for early access in 2025, this console playtest brings the release closer to reality.
The playtest is accessible through the skate. Insider program, requiring registration. A recent video from the development team confirmed the addition of more Black hairstyle options and playfully addressed the "Fall 2024" playtest announcement. While specific gameplay details, such as the improved replay editor, remain under wraps, the excitement is palpable.
skate. is confirmed as a free-to-play, live-service game set in the fictional city of San Vansterdam. Inspired by real-world locations and previous Skate game settings, San Vansterdam is a dynamic, ever-evolving city. While a map leak surfaced in 2023, its current state remains a mystery.
Other Skateboarding Games to Enjoy in the Interim
While an early access launch in 2025 is planned, delays are always a possibility. Fortunately, several other skateboarding games are available to keep fans entertained until skate.'s official release.
