Nu Udra: Habitat, Weak Points, and Effective Strategies

Known Habitats: Oilwell Basin

Breakable Parts: Head and Arms

Recommended Elemental Attack: Water

Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (1x), Stun (2x), Exhaust (2x)

Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Shock Trap

Tentacle Tactics: Melee Combat Strategies

Nu Udra's massive tentacles present a significant challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds, extending its reach and making evasion tricky. However, these same tentacles offer melee fighters a prime target. Severing the arms yields valuable materials, but proceed with caution—they pack a powerful punch.

Ranged Assault: Targeting Nu Udra's Weak Points

Ranged weapon users have more options, but focusing on Nu Udra's mouth is key. Although its almost entirely black hide makes it difficult to spot, the mouth boasts a 4-star weakness. The head is another viable target, offering a 3-star weakness to ammo damage, making it effective for blunt and cut damage.

Harnessing the Power of Watermoss

Nu Udra possesses a fire affinity, unleashing fiery attacks alongside its tentacle assaults. It even ignites itself periodically, inflicting the dangerous Fireblight debuff. Counter this by liberally applying Watermoss to mitigate fire damage and safely engage.

Defensive Measures: Fire Resistance is Crucial

Struggling against Nu Udra's fiery attacks? Equip fire-resistant gear. The Quematrice armor set, with its Fire Resistance skill, is highly recommended. Enhance your defenses further with decorations that reduce elemental damage, such as the Fire Res Jewel or the Stream Jewel (which also boosts Water Attack).

Evading the Deadly Grab: A Critical Skill

Nu Udra's grab attack is particularly dangerous. If caught within its reach, it will briefly restrain you before unleashing a fiery blast. During this brief pause, quickly use a knife to break free or utilize your Slinger to attack its weak point.

To capture Nu Udra, prepare either a Pitfall or Shock Trap. However, deployment requires weakening the monster significantly—look for the skull icon near its health bar. Lure it into the trap using meat or strategically position yourself behind it while it targets you. Once trapped, quickly administer a Tranquilizer (you have about five seconds before it breaks free).

Defeating and capturing Nu Udra in Monster Hunter Wilds is a challenging undertaking. Don't hesitate to utilize multiplayer for assistance.

Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
