Serial Cleaner, the quirky crime-scene cleanup puzzler, is making a comeback! Originally released in 2019, this title is returning, but the extent of the revamp remains a mystery. Will it be a polished re-release or simply a modernized port? Only time will tell.
The game throws you into the gritty, yet comical, 1970s. Think urban decay, stylish gangs, improbable occurrences (turkeys falling from the sky, anyone?), and the cinematic cliché of killer sharks terrorizing beaches. As Bob Leaner, your job is to meticulously clean up crime scenes, disposing of bodies, erasing bloodstains, and concealing any evidence of mob violence—all while dodging the ever-watchful police.
Our previous review (2019) described the original Serial Cleaner as "half-baked but with potential." Developer Plug-In Digital is now self-publishing this mobile iteration, suggesting a chance for improvement.
A Funky Revival?
Pre-registration is open, with a February 11th, 2025 release date. While the specifics of the re-release remain unclear, a significant overhaul would be welcome, given the mixed reception of the original. However, the time elapsed since the initial launch makes a major update seem unlikely.
The core concept remains captivating, but a simple mobile port dampens the excitement somewhat. Nevertheless, Android users who missed out, or those experiencing compatibility issues on newer iOS versions, might consider this an early gift.
