Assassin's Creed Shadows Delayed to March 20, 2025

Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th release, this latest postponement adds another five weeks to the wait. The publisher cites the need for further refinement and polishing, incorporating player feedback into the final product.

The game's journey to release has been marked by delays. A previous delay, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th, 2025. While the initial delay was attributed to unspecified development challenges, this latest one directly addresses fan feedback.

Marc-Alexis Coté, the game's vice president and executive producer, stated on the official Assassin's Creed website that Ubisoft is prioritizing a high-quality, immersive experience. This commitment involves ongoing communication with players and the development team, leading to the decision for additional time to refine and polish the game.

The September delay saw Ubisoft offer pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. While there's been no announcement of similar compensation for this latest delay, the shorter timeframe may mitigate potential player frustration.

This additional delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to improve player-centricity amidst recent financial challenges and disappointing sales figures. Incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows could be a direct response to this initiative.
