As if fans could resist the return of Alicia Silverstone as the iconic Cher Horowitz. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role in a highly anticipated Clueless sequel series, which is currently in development with Peacock.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, we know that this series will continue the story from the original 1995 film. This new project differs from the Clueless spin-off that Peacock was planning back in 2020, promising fresh content for fans.
The creative team behind this exciting revival includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, who will write and executive produce the series alongside Jordan Weiss. They will be joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are also on board to produce the series.
This isn't the first time Clueless has made the leap to the small screen. Following the success of the 1995 film, a television adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, starring Rachel Blanchard as Cher instead of Silverstone.
Silverstone's recent appearance as Cher in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten shows her eagerness to step back into Cher's iconic wardrobe. Fans are undoubtedly thrilled to see her return to the role that made her a household name.
