With the recent formation of Reburn—a new studio composed of former members of 4A Games Ukraine, the minds behind the acclaimed Metro series—4A Games has stepped forward to reassure fans of their ongoing dedication to the franchise. This statement follows the announcement of Reburn's first project, La Quimera, which sparked curiosity and questions about the future direction of the Metro series.

In their official statement, 4A Games clarified their stance and relationship with Reburn, extending congratulations for La Quimera while firmly stating their continued focus on the Metro series.

“We remain the team responsible for bringing you the beloved Metro games,” the statement declared. “Our efforts toward the next Metro installment continue in partnership with Dmitry Glukhovsky, guided by the same visionaries and talent that have shaped the series since its inception.”

Beyond the eagerly anticipated Metro sequel, 4A Games hinted at the development of a brand-new intellectual property (IP), though they kept the details under wraps. The studio expressed pride in their Ukrainian roots and their diverse team, noting that a significant portion of their staff—approximately 150 out of over 200 members—remains based in Kyiv, with additional operations in Sliema, Malta, and remote setups.

Addressing the organizational split, 4A Games provided further context:

“Following the completion of Metro Exodus and its DLC, we collaborated closely with our partners at 4A Games Ukraine through outsourcing. Post-Exodus, we founded 4A Games Limited in Kyiv, absorbing roughly 50 more colleagues to sustain our momentum. Simultaneously, 4A Games Ukraine embarked on their standalone journey with La Quimera, eventually rebranding as Reburn.”

Since the launch of Metro Exodus in early 2019, the fanbase's interest in the series has only grown, despite the scarcity of updates. While spin-offs and the Enhanced Edition have kept the community engaged, many are eagerly awaiting the next installment in Dmitry Glukhovsky’s dystopian universe. Supported by Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic), 4A Games initially hinted at a new Metro title in 2019, setting a tentative "202X" release window before going silent. Now, it appears that the wait for the next chapter may soon be over.
