MAME4droid (0.37b5)

MAME4droid, developed by David Valdeita (Seleuco), is an Android port of the renowned MAME 0.37b5 emulator originally created by Nicola Salmoria and his team. This emulator builds upon the foundation laid by iMAME4all for jailbroken iPhones and iPads, as well as GP2X and WIZ MAME4ALL 2.5 by Franxis. MAME4droid brings the arcade experience to Android devices by emulating over 2000 different romsets, including those supported by MAME 0.37b5 and select games from newer MAME versions.

It's important to understand that due to the vast number of games supported, performance can vary significantly. Some games may run smoothly, while others may struggle or fail to run altogether. Users should manage their expectations, especially those with older devices. To optimize performance, consider lowering sound quality or turning it off, using 8-bit depth, underclocking the CPU and Sound CPUs, and disabling animations for sticks and buttons as well as smooth scaling.

To start using MAME4droid, install the app and place your MAME-titled zipped roms in the /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms folder. MAME4droid is compatible with '0.37b5' and 'GP2X, WIZ 0.37b11 mame romset' formats. For romsets from other MAME versions, use the "clrmame.dat" file located in /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/ with the ClrMAME Pro utility, which can be found at http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/. Please note that MAME4droid does not support save states as it is based on a MAME version without this feature.
