How to Play Koikoi
To begin playing Koikoi, you and your opponent will take turns discarding a card onto the table. If the card you play matches the month of any card already on the table, you can capture those cards. This matching and capturing of cards is central to the gameplay of Koikoi.
The game can end in two ways. Firstly, if you manage to collect a set of cards that forms a 'flush' (all cards of the same month), you can choose to end the game and score points based on the cards you've captured. Alternatively, you may opt to continue playing, aiming to capture more cards and potentially increase your score. This decision to either 'go out' or 'continue' (hence the name Koikoi, which means 'come on' or 'more') adds a thrilling strategic element to the game.
If neither player can score any points, the round is considered a draw, and no game points are awarded. The winner of the match is determined by who accumulates the most points over a series of 12 games.
