In 1972, the city of Hanoi became the epicenter of a significant aerial conflict known as the "Dien Bien Phu in the air," which was part of Operation Linebacker II. This operation, launched by the United States, marked the final military campaign against the Democratic Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Spanning from December 18 to December 30, 1972, Operation Linebacker II was initiated after the Paris Peace Conference collapsed due to unresolved disagreements between the US and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam over the terms of the peace agreement.
The game "Hanoi 12 Days and Nights," developed by Pirex Games, vividly recreates this intense period of conflict. Focused on the theme of revolution, the game captures the spirit of the Hanoi people's resistance against the formidable B-52 aircraft used by the US forces. This aerial battle, often referred to as a "devilish war," showcased the resilience and determination of the Vietnamese in defending their homeland. The culmination of these 12 days of intense aerial combat led to the US government signing the Paris Agreement at the end of December 1972, which aimed to bring peace to North Vietnam.
