Bandai Namco Partners with Rebel Wolves for Upcoming Dark Fantasy Action RPG, Dawnwalker
Rebel Wolves, a Polish studio comprised of key developers from The Witcher 3, has secured a publishing deal with Bandai Namco Entertainment for its debut title, Dawnwalker. This AAA action RPG, slated for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox, promises a mature, story-driven experience set in a dark fantasy medieval Europe.
The Collaboration
The partnership, announced earlier this week, positions Bandai Namco as the global publisher for the Dawnwalker saga. This collaboration brings together Rebel Wolves' fresh energy and experience with Bandai Namco's established track record in publishing narrative-driven RPGs.
Tomasz Tinc, Rebel Wolves' chief publishing officer, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the shared values and Bandai Namco's success with similar titles. Alberto Gonzalez Lorca, Bandai Namco's VP of business development, described Dawnwalker as a significant addition to their portfolio and a key step in their Western market strategy.
A New Franchise with Familiar Talent
Leading the creative direction is Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, a CD Projekt Red veteran and lead quest designer on The Witcher 3, who joined Rebel Wolves earlier this year. The game's narrative is helmed by Jakub Szamalek, a former CDPR writer with over nine years of experience. Szamalek confirms Dawnwalker as a new IP, with a scope comparable to The Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine expansion, emphasizing a non-linear narrative.
Tomaszkiewicz emphasizes the game's focus on player choice and replayability, promising an experience rich in options and experimentation. Further details on Dawnwalker are anticipated in the coming months.
