Stalker 2: For Science! Side Quest Walkthrough

In Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, players exploring The Zone will stumble upon various NPCs, often leading to quests ranging from minor tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission involves Skif meeting Yaryk Mongoose, who needs help activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While short, completing it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facility.

Initiating the "For Science!" Side Quest

To begin "For Science!", locate Yaryk Mongoose within the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Approaching triggers a radio call between Mongoose and Skif, prompting Skif's arrival. Inside the Central Elevator, bypass the conveyor belts, ascend the rusted stairs, and vault the railing to reach Mongoose on the first floor. He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, initiating the quest upon accepting his request.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. Access the exterior walkway through a broken window and descend the ladder. Jump to the silo walkway, equipping your bolt gun to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo to locate and activate the second measuring device.

Activating the device alerts a Bloodsucker horde. Players can choose to fight or evade them to reach Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Upon reaching Mongoose, he'll explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward and leave. Neither choice significantly impacts the game's progression. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass from his corpse; however, choosing the non-hostile option rewards both the pass and coupons. The Malachite pass provides access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through main missions.
