Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to the Esports World Cup 2025
Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, several game publishers have announced the return of their titles for the 2025 edition. Hot on the heels of Free Fire's confirmation, Moonton has officially announced the return of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB).
The 2024 Esports World Cup featured two MLBB events: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. These events brought together teams from around the globe to compete in Riyadh. Selangor Red Giants claimed victory in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress triumphed in the Women's Invitational, ending Team Vitality's impressive 25-game win streak.
A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?
Most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup appear to be returning in 2025. However, it's noticeable that few, if any, of the featured games are showcasing their premier championships at the event. The inclusion of MLBB's mid-season cup, for instance, might suggest the Esports World Cup is viewed as a secondary event rather than the main competition.
This has a double-edged effect. It's positive in that the EWC avoids overshadowing established leagues, but negative in that it might be perceived as less significant than the primary tournaments.
Regardless, fans of these games will undoubtedly welcome their return to this high-profile tournament.
