Fortnite reverses its controversial decision about one of the skins

The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a beloved Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus. This sparked excitement, but also controversy.

The original release of the Master Chief skin included a special Matte Black style, exclusively for players on Xbox Series S|X. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as permanently obtainable. The abrupt announcement of its removal was therefore met with considerable backlash.

Some players even threatened legal action, considering the change a breach of advertising regulations. However, Epic Games quickly reversed course within 24 hours, confirming that the Matte Black style would remain available to all Master Chief skin owners who played a single game on an Xbox Series S|X console.

This reversal appears to be the most prudent decision, particularly given the holiday season. Spoiling the festive cheer with such a controversial move would likely have been detrimental.
