Dota 2 Terrorblade Offlane Guide: Dominate the Side Lane

A few patches ago, picking Terrorblade as an offlaner in Dota 2 was considered unconventional. Now, he's a rising star in high MMR games. This guide explains why Terrorblade thrives in the offlane and provides a comprehensive build.

Terrorblade Overview

Terrorblade is a melee Agility hero with exceptional Agility gain, providing substantial armor. His low Strength and Intelligence are offset by high mobility and powerful abilities. Late-game, his physical damage resistance is formidable. His innate ability, Dark Unity, boosts illusion damage.

Terrorblade Abilities: A Quick Look

Ability Name How it Works
Reflection Creates an invulnerable enemy illusion dealing 100% damage and slowing attack/movement speed.
Conjure Image Creates a controllable illusion of Terrorblade.
Metamorphosis Transforms Terrorblade, increasing attack range and damage; illusions also transform.
Sunder Swaps Terrorblade's HP with a target's (can't kill, but can reduce to 1 HP with Condemned Facet).

Aghanim's Upgrades:

  • Shard: Grants Demon Zeal, sacrificing health for regeneration, attack speed, and movement speed (melee form only).
  • Scepter: Grants Terror Wave, inflicting fear and dealing damage; activates/extends Metamorphosis.

Facets:

  • Condemned: Removes the HP threshold for Sundered targets.
  • Soul Fragment: Conjure Image illusions spawn at full health, but casting costs additional health.

Position 3 Terrorblade Build Guide

Terrorblade's success in the offlane hinges on Reflection, a low-cost, low-cooldown spell that creates a damaging enemy illusion. This allows for effective harassment from a safe distance. However, his low health pool necessitates strategic item choices.

Facets, Talents, & Ability Order

Choose the Condemned Facet for devastating Sunder combos. Prioritize Reflection, maximizing it quickly for early-game harassment and kill potential. Follow with Metamorphosis at level 2 for added kill threat and Conjure Image at level 4. Acquire Sunder at level 6. Itemization will depend on the game's progression and enemy composition. But generally, items that boost survivability and damage output are key.
